The causes, effects and solutions of Pollutions

In accordance with the article "Pollution," it is argued that knowing the sources of pollution is a primary step in finding the solutions. Two types op pollutions, air and water, and the solutions to the problem of pollutions are mentioned in the article. As it is suggested, air pollution is mainly caused by road congestion, smoke from the factories and absence of trees, whereas water pollution is often due to superstitious beliefs, factory-formed effluents, and corroded pipes. As a result of the pollutions, more and more people are getting sick and the environment is becoming harmful to the species on earth. To solve the problems, the government and individuals should work cooperatively. We, as an individual, should cut down the amount of carbon emission from our vehicles and plant more trees, while the government should control the smoke from factories and prohibit some ares for recycling wastes.

My First Short Story

The Luck Brought by Triplets

Written by: NGUON Chhayleang

A few droplets of water left from last night rain sleeping on branches of trees were rolling down gracefully to the red fertile ground and were absorbed abruptly and thirstily as a rainy night was transisting into a hot spring day. The sun was starting to give off light to the day again. A covey of birds were flying here and there across the about-to-turn-green landscape signaling for another great sunny day while the little ants were scuttling away under the mango tree looking for a place to store of their summer supplies. Behind the mango tree stood an old, gloomy and lonely house of a talented herbalist Pitou, a man who left his laboratory in Phnom Penh to find the herbs in the big forest of Mondolkiri province.

Calmness counts!

In order not to show your histrionics, you need to learn to be patient of what you can't do because controlling oneself is the path to his/her success. I was once told that, "The success is the one who can control his/her feeling over a skirmish." For example, you might face a range of problems, big or small, at your working place almost every day, if not every hour. Controlling yourself not to jump into any arguments, therefore, is the best way to help you to have a successful talk with you prospect buyers.

The best man you can ever find

A strong-looking man was accosting one of my prospective clients who was listening to my lecture on the new products. The man demanded me ceasing my speech. Although he tried to frustrate me, I still went on. One of my entourages who is flagrantly pugnacious, to my consternation, sallied toward that sinister-looking man and gave a tremendous punch on the forehead, leaving the man with injurious laceration and blooding spewing over the earth. With no respite, the man forthwith ran as quick away as his legs could carry him. Everyone witnessing the quarrel praised my entourage of his courage and determination to protect me.

My Excellent Academic Achievement

Today, I'm absolutely delighted to be acclaimed as the second most outstanding student at IFL, in year 2, morning shift, in the Bachelor's Program of Department of English of the academic year 2008-2009. This deed marked another impressive achievement I have made so far. I would not have received this award without the rigorous helps from my very intellectual lecturers. And my special thank goes to my parents who support me along the way. I was inspired both emotionally and mentally by them. Despite this wonderful accomplishment, however, I am still a simple and friendly person. I am still ME.

Two more AH1N1 dead cases in Cambodia

On October 6, 2009, Cambodia sees herself facing another shocking event. Two more older adults, a pregnant woman and a 41-year-old man, died from the rampant and malignant malady, AH1N1, following the death of a careless woman, who was late to be hospitalized, last month. The minister of Ministry of Health, Mum Bun Heng, said that he was filled with dismay that the three Cambodians could be recovered. In addition, he mentioned about the upcoming traditional event, Water Festival, which will be held from October 31 to November 3, when millions of people rush to see the Boat Racing event. He strongly advised those who are suspicious of having the disease not to go out to spread the disease to the visitors of the event.

Unthinkable event

You can't imagined how hard it will be to see deplorable incidence in the public places. This can be a scandal, an accident, a skirmish, or a roaring argument. Some people have a very special ability to predict those events, the mysteries of tomorrow. It seems that they have such unbelievable premonition. While I was perusing through the article about the banning of clothes from Cambodia to the US one morning, I suddenly had a kind of guts feeling that I had heard of this before. I started to recoil with fear of the event. I could not think of what to do besides feeling about the harbinger of my premonition.

Most Valuable Brands

As of today, the global economic downturn has had considerable impacts on the world's economy. No one is to be blamed. It is a bitter pill for everyone to swallow, including some of the most valuable consumer brand names such as Coca-cola, IBM, Microsoft, etc. To measure the decreases or increases of the value of the world most well-know brands is no easy task; however, according to McGregory, a BBC correspondent, every year a marketing consultancy INTERBRAND has a go.

How to attain good quality of life

Chanthy was living in a dusty-looking house with a small bedroom. He optimistically believed in himself that he would soon graduate from IFL. Everyday, he would have a book or two with him because he likes reading so much. His goal in life is to live with a person whom he loves and to become a CEO of a multinational company. Although he is poor, he still thinks that ‘money is not everything’. A few years after his graduation, Chanthy contracted a job with a comfortable salary in one multinational company. Then, he got married to a woman with whom he had been deeply in love for years. Now Chanthy is so successful both in his career and family life. Chanthy’s story leads us to think that he has a good quality of life. Quality of life refers to how good or bad, convenient or stressful one’s life is. We believe that a good quality of life can be attained by: being optimistic, keeping on learning, living a purposeful life, and seeing money as not everything.

My Ugly Vacation

It was September 18, 2009, the day before Pchum Ben Day, that I and my family went to Vietnam for pleasure. We started off our journey at 12:30 in the afternoon with a light rain and arrived at Neak Leoung Ferry, where we had to cross the Mekong River, at 2:00PM.

Unfortunately, there were two long rows (about 2km away from the dock) of big and small cars queuing for the crossing. We were stuck in that huge gridlock for nearly one and half hours. The long procession filed step-by-step.The weather was hot and our car's air conditioner had difficulties pushing out cool air. We were sweating profusely. However, our car crawled attentively towards and jammed for space into the ferry. At about 3:30PM we finally reached the other side of the river. 'It is not our day!' I talked to my parents, 'we should have reached Bavet, the transit between Vietnam and Cambodia, already.'

Unexpectedly, our car, Toyota Tiger 2003, had high temperature which was almost impossible to happen because my dad had just filled in the water before we journeyed. We stopped by the side of the road. Because the car's front part was filled with smoke, my dad stopped the car in no time. We then got out of the car and looked for water to cool the machine down. After thirty minutes of relentlessly pouring the water onto the machine, we were finally able to continue our journey. My mom and I started to feel uneasy about the car; thus, we keep our eyes closely on the temperature gauge to avoid the incident from happening again.

True Love

In this world, there are only two main things that people do: to seek for love; and to compensate for the lack of love. As we can see, love can affect our reality. Some people sing for love, some dance for love, some talk about love, some live for love, some KILL for LOVE, and some even DIE for LOVE, yet no one knows exactly how long love will last?
